The most common model for describing workflows. The green symbols are activities that are performed by roles. After each activity we show the expected result, which is commonly the input to the following activity. By visualizing these results, called Business Objects, we ensure that the output and input are the same between activities. We also ensure that all results are dealt with in this or other processes, which is easily missed if only the activities are modeled.

The yellow hats below the activities are roles responsible for performing the activities. You can detail this using RACI to show who is accountable, responsible, consulted and informed. Read more about RACI here.
